It seems that finding a seat to watch a taping of the Oprah show is kind of like being a mosh pit for a heavy metal concert. A woman who attended an April taping is sewing Oprah’s company, alleging she was “pushed down a flight of stairs” but other fans rushing to find a good seat. She is seeking more than $50,000 in damages.

Justin Timberlake and Cameron Diaz confirmed the gossip that they are no longer a couple. They issued a press release, naturally. They were a couple for more than three years, but it seems Justin hasn’t had any trouble quickly finding some different company. He has been seen with Scarlett Johansson and celebrated New Year’s at a party at Kate Hudson’s house. He is, of course, just friends with both ladies.
It seems that if “The Hobbit” ever makes it to the big screen, it will do so without “Lord of the Rings” director Peter Jackson. Jackson and New Line Cinema are still embroiled in a lawsuit over profits from the first film in the mega-hit trilogy. I don’t know – I just can’t imagine the prequel being done by anyone else. Any ideas on another director who could fit the bill?
Terri Irwin, wife of the late Steve Irwin, has destroyed the last remaining tape containing footage of his death by a stingray barb. The video showed Irwin be struck by the stingray, pull the barb from his chest, and then pass out. No one will ever view it, and it won’t be used for sensationalistic purposes, which I think is the right move. The rest of the documentary that he was filming at the time of his death will air on January 21st.
On December 15, after five years of performing her concert “A New Day” at Las Vegas’ Caesar’s Palace, Celine Dion will close her song and dance extravaganza. Over the years, more than 2.5 million people have attended her performances, and the gross earnings have been in excess of $320 million to date.
“The fans have been so supportive of us, and I want to thank them for taking this journey with me,” Dion, who was forced to cancel five dates in December while she battled a respiratory infection, said in a statement. “When I began this adventure four years ago, I had no idea how magical this experience truly would be. As we prepare ourselves to say goodbye, I know this will be the best year yet.”
American Idol finalist Bucky Covington just signed a deal with Lyric Records, the home of country mega-stars Rascal Flatts.
“It’s so amazing, what American Idol can do for a singer,” the 29-year-old North Carolina native, whose real name is William Joel Covington, said.
“People don’t realize that when they pick up the phone to vote they’re helping to make someone’s dream come true. So when [Sawyer Brown frontman] Mark Miller called me the day after I got voted off American Idol to tell me that I sounded great on the show, I couldn’t believe it!
“Now I’m living in Nashville, signed to Lyric Street Records, and getting ready to release my first single and debut album. Man, it’s unbelievable!”
This deal makes Covington the eighth alum from season five of American Idol to sign a recording contract.
Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford have confirmed that work on the long-awaited fourth installment in the Indiana Jones series will begin shooting in June. Spielberg will direct and Harrison will take the title role again. He will be 64 when shooting begins. Wonder if he can still jump onto a running horse or moving train?
“George, Harrison and I are all very excited,” Spielberg said. Lucas chimed in by saying, “These films are such great fun to make. I’m looking forward to reuniting with the team and starting this new journey.”
And Ford, who will be 64 when cameras roll, added, “I’m delighted to be back in business with my old friends.
“I don’t know if the pants still fit but I know the hat will.”
