Reading

posted by Kaza

People are always talking about how recreational reading can help you build a knowledge base. Well, that doesn’t necessarily mean you have to read books all day long. I get plenty of reading in every day just by looking at the internet and newspapers. I would say I read more than the average person without without ever having to pick up a book.

Super Bowl

posted by Kaza

Did anyone see this year’s Super Bowl? My, what an exciting contest! I told a few friends of mine at work that the Giants would win. Of course no one believed me until it happened. I am not a Giants fan but was glad to see someone beat the Pats. In any event, I had a party at my house outdoors in the Florida warmth. Someone slipped and fell so it has me thinking about installing outdoor lighting just to be on the safe side.

Fear/Loathing

posted by Kaza

When the crooks broke into my house, they took my immense collection of fine DVD movies. Of course they left me with my son’s lousy drug movies, like Friday, How High, Half Baked and others. However, he did leave one drug movie I found somewhat interesting. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. This cult classic stars Benecio del Toro and Johnny Depp in Hunter S. Thompson’s classic story about finding the American Dream in a drug-induced stupor.

Movie star Owen Wilson has returned to the public eye after last month’s mysterious suicide attempt. Coppola Shakes Up Rome Festival

posted by Kaza

Legendary film director Francis Ford Coppola is shaking up the film festival in Rome with his first feature film in ten years. His feature is called “Youth Without Youth” a story about an elderly Romanian professor who gets struck by lightning and becomes young again. Give him a break, he’s been out of the loop for ten years. He probably doesn’t realize Disney has already made that same film in 12 straight to DVD films.

Conflicted Gere

posted by Kaza

When an actor talks to the press to plug a TV show or movie, they usually make quick work of it and are on their ways in no time. This is not the case for Richard Gere, who was promoting his new film “The Hunting Party” which opens in the United States on Friday. He could have got away with telling Reuters he was a agent chasing down a Bosnian war criminal, but the real-life Buddhist instead took the time to tell the press about his idea to boyceott the Olympics. The reason isn’t fear of the US not getting gold medals, it’s over the whole situation in Tibet.

Youth actress Mary-Kate Olsen and Gandhi star Ben Kingsley will apparently kiss in their latest movie, a comedy called “The Wackness” Kingsley came to fame with hos epic biopic “Gandhi” where he portrayed the peaceful reformer who helped India break her ties with the United Kingdom. He is now 63 years old. Mary-Kate and her sister Ashley were popular child stars who now have problems of their own. The one good thing about having Gandhi and Mary-Kate in a movie is you don’t have to spend any money on food!

Halloween Redux

posted by Kaza

It’s getting near October once again, which can only mean a new batch of scary movies is set to hit the big screens all across America. If you are like me, you have a soft spot in your heart for the classic scary movies such as Halloween the movie. Even though the film was released in 1978, it was still a frightening, if not horrific experience. Michael Myers and Jamie Lee Curtis became icons of American pop culture for years after the film.

Imagine how excited I was when I heard they were redoing Halloween the movie? It is set to be directed by none other than Rob Zombie, rock musician who has also directed scary movies like House of 1000 Corpses. Since I was a kid I have been listening to Rob Zombie’s metal, now I get to see his works play out on the big screen. I’m sure he will bring an exciting new vibe to the franchise. I think we can expect bigger production and execution in the latest Halloween installment with Rob Zombie at the helm.

Don’t take my word for it, take a look at the frightening trailer that is on YouTube right now. When you hear that classic little riff from the Halloween movies, it will send a chill up your spine. All the excitement of the original movie release will be alive in well in the hands of Rob Zombie. If this clip doesn’t get you in the mood for scary movies, nothing will.

If you are like me, you’ll be among the first in line to see this exciting new picture when it hits big screens nationwide on August 31st.

Digital Cameras

posted by Kaza

I remember a few years ago how digital cameras were a luxury item, now they are practically a necessity. When I got my first digital camera, I would take it everywhere. The prospect of snapping off pictures I could instantly share with anyone was amazing to me. The first camera I had wasn’t of great quality compared to today’s models, but it helped me get this really cool close-up image of my favorite hockey player, Martin St. Louis

Now I take my digital camera with me wherever I go, just in case that once in a lifetime moment happens I just have to tell everyone about. That game winning goal? I have it captured for all to see. That celebrity I saw at the store? Crystal clear and ready to share on my digital camera. I am so glad these things are improving in quality and dropping in price, like the crisp new Nikon D80.
