Back in the day, the Tony Hawk series of video games defined the genre of skateboarding sims. Over the years, they have released tons of games with little competition in the extreme sports field: until now. EA sports is presenting a new skateboarding title called simply “Skate”. Anybody who spends any amount of time gaming can tell you that they are full of advertisements. I can think of six titles off the top of my head that feature ads for car maker Dodge, and I don’t even play that many games. As if the epidemic of marketing synergy hasn’t infected video games enough, profiteering company Double Fusion will kick it off with new technology that allows them to supplant advertising campaigns in games at will, even titles that are no longer popular. Don’t be surprised to find Vice City full of loan advertisements and 800 number ploys. This is getting to be beyond belief. Game prices skyrocket and they still need to lace their pockets with advert money and extra map package chips….
If you haven’t heard of the Halo franchise of video games, you probably don’t play games at all! One and two are still among the most popular games out there, even though they have been out forever. Next month the video game world will welcome the highly-anticipated Halo 3! Here’s the official trailer:
As an avid video gamer, I regret to inform you Rockstar’s heavily anticipated Grand Theft Auto IV will not be available by Christmas of this year as once anticipated - it now looks like the release will be delayed until Spring of next year. Rockstar cites needing more time to perfect the new game which is set in New York-clone Liberty City. We’re willing to give Rockstar the benefit of the doubt, they don’t want to rush the game out with another inaccessible dirty mod to rile up Congress!
