No Recruiters on UC Santa Cruz

Well, if you are like me and want to go to a college atmosphere where the focus is on learning and not dodging miliary recruiters, check out the University of California Santa Cruz! The amazing “Students Against War” club there organized a rally big enough to scare away military recruiters from the campus. Now if we could get these recruiters off our high school campuses too - young people shouldn’t feel obligated to risk their life for the military to go to Iraq.
Anti-war activists celebrated the absence of military recruiters at a job fair at the University of California, Santa Cruz. About 75 anti-war activists rallied in front of the campus bookstore Tuesday as the job fair kicked off.
Army and Marine recruiters pulled out of the fair last week after college officials were told a large protest was in the works.
Students Against War members took credit for the military withdrawal.
“If every school prevented recruitment, if every port stopped shipping weapons, if every community refused to accept war profiteers as neighbors, war would be impossible,” activist Natalie MacIntyre said in a statement.
